| George Beacham -- ex Horace Gould race mechanic and Rolls Royce engineer built the car in the 1950's and used it extensively in VSCC sprints and hill climbs. The car is based on a 1933 Riley 9 Monaco chassis which has been shortened and fitted with 1/4 elliptic rear springs. The front axle is Riley 9 which has been fully machined and plated. Hydraulic ventilated 12" Girling drum brakes are fitted all round and these are extremely effective. The engine is a 1934 Riley 12/4 1500 cc -- one of the original solid oil gallery chain driven engines. This is fitted with double timing chains, post- war crank, phoenix rods, omega pistons, Chinn supercharger with 2" sand cast S.U.running on Methanol. The gearbox is a close ratio silent 3rd manual with Brooklands extension mated to an open prop shaft and high ratio Riley Merlin rear axle. The car has recently had an extensive mechanical rebuilt by a well known Riley expert with bills in excess of £10,000. This is an extremely fast and well sorted car and comes with VSCC Buff form. £POA |
